DYW candidates we spoke with say coming to Brookdale was a great way to give back and be involved in the community.
“We can learn a lot from our elders; our elders have so much wisdom and they have a lot of personality and you could just learn so much from just listening and talking to them,” says Breanna Smoak, DYW of George County.
“Not only just getting involved with the community, but just having a good time with them and showing a fun face, and just showing them something they don’t always see is just really heartwarming,” says Rebekah Williams, the DYW of Lamar County.
“I think it’s important because being involved with them and just singing with their sweet souls just really warms my heart,” says Keleri Chasteen, DYW of Pascagoula.
The DYW of Mississippi program kicks off with preliminaries Thursday at the Evangel Temple, with the winner to be selected Saturday night.
